Cameron Diaz wants to ‘normalise’ sleeping in separate bedrooms as she gives insight into marriage with husband Benji

Cameron Diaz has said that she wants to 'normalise' married couples sleeping in separate bedrooms – however, she admitted that she and her husband Benji Madden do sleep in the same one.

The 51 year old actress, famed for iconic movies such as The Holiday and There's Something About Mary, made the comments during an appearance on a recent episode of model Molly Sims' podcast.

The two women were discussing what healthy lifestyles and what they do to achieve them, which is when she made the comment about married couples sleeping separately.

She explained: "'To me, I would literally, I have my house, you have yours,' she confessed. "We have the family house in the middle. I will go and sleep in my room. You go sleep in your room. I'm fine.

"And we have the bedroom in the middle that we can convene in for our relations.

But Cameron later clarified that she and husband Benji do in fact share a bed, saying: "By the way, I don't feel that way now because my husband is so wonderful. I said that before I got married."

Cameron and Benji, who is part of band Good Charlotte, got married in 2015 and share a three year old daughter named Raddix.

Their wedding took place just ten months after they were introduced by Cameron's pal, Nicole Richie, who is married to Benji's twin brother, Joel.

In 2021, Cameron confessed to finding Benji "so hot" as she described him as a "hidden gem".

Speaking on Anna Faris' podcast, Cameron gushed: "When I saw… who he was, that's what made me really be like, 'Oh you, you're special, you're the guy, you're the hidden gem in my life'."

The pair welcomed their daughter in 2020, and later that year, Cameron confessed that becoming a parent is the "best, best, best part of my life" adding that she "loves" it.

She went on: "I'm so grateful and so happy and it's the best thing ever and I'm so lucky to do it with Benj and we're having the best time. I'm thrilled. I can't believe it."

Despite being one of the world's most A-list actors, Cameron made the decision to retire from the profession in 2018.

However, Cameron then made her return to acting in Back In Action this year, after being tempted out of retirement by none other than Jamie Foxx.
